Easy route: Leave Madison on Highway 18/151.
As soon as you pass Mt. Horeb, look for County Highway "E", where you will turn left (across the highway) off of 18/151.
Go 2.3 miles on Highway E, which will get you to West Blue Mounds Road.
Turn right and go 1.0 miles on West Blue Mounds.
You will then be at a cluster of three mailboxes, one of which says (what
else?) "Shafer".
Turn left and come all the way up the gravel drive. We
are the last house--not the log house--and people can just park at the edges
of the drive.
Scenic route: Leave Madison on Mineral Point Road.
Stay on Mineral Point all the way through Pine Bluff until it ends at Highway 78.
Turn left on 78 and proceed into the center of Mt. Horeb.
Turn right at the first roundabout you encounter and go through Mt. Horeb.
Turn left at Highway 78 and then almost immediately right onto Highway 18/151.
Proceed a very short distance and then turn left (across the highway) onto County Highway "E".
